Setting out on a FunShip Voyage to Cuba! The Carnival Paradise passes the historic El Morro Castle in Havana, Cuba, on its first voyage to the city on Friday, June 30, 2017. August 14, 2017 Today, I embarked Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Paradise in her homeport of Tampa, Florida to set sail on one of Carnival’s newest and most unique itineraries: a five-night voyage to Havana, Cuba . Carnival Paradise arrived in Havana for the first time on June 30 of this year, becoming the first Carnival ship in the company’s 45-year history to ever visit Cuba. All of this was made possible by the easing of travel restrictions against the island nation by the U.S. Government – though how long this will all last is anyone’s guess. Forecast: Showers, storms and high humidity return

Gambar
SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - - Mostly dry through sunset. - Rain arrives first to the Finger Lakes, then Syracuse tonight . - Warm, unsettled and muggy on Friday. - Weekend still looks pretty good right now. Rain returns tonight : High pressure that brought us dry weather Wednesday and Thursday has moved east. An area of low pressure and its fronts will swing in from the south and west tonight. This will bring some showers and a few storms by 9 p.m. for the Finger Lakes and at or shortly before midnight for Syracuse. Showers and storms continue into Friday morning before a warm front moves east and we dry out temporarily. Scattered showers and storms will likely develop Friday afternoon as well given the fact that it will be very humid plus a cold front will be approaching us from western NY. Some of these storms could be strong to severe late Friday afternoon , especially the more sunshine we see during the day. It does look like the shower and thunderstorm threat will be diminishing ...

A father’s scars: For Va.’s Creigh Deeds, tragedy brings unending questions

Creigh Deeds, Virginia state senator . (Matt McClain/The Washington Post) He wakes up, and even before he opens his eyes, he can see his beautiful, delusional son . Gus , Creigh Deeds thinks . He lies in bed a few minutes more, trying to conjure specific images. Gus dancing. Gus playing the banjo. Gus with the puppies. Any images of Gus other than the final ones he has of his 24-year-old, mentally ill son attacking him and then walking away to kill himself, images that intrude on his days and nights along with the questions that he will begin asking himself soon, but not yet. A few minutes more. Gus fishing. Gus looking at him. Gus smiling at him. Time to start the day. He gets out of bed, where a piece of the shotgun he had taken apart in those last days of his son’s life is still hidden under the mattress. He goes outside to feed the animals, first the chickens in the yard and then the horses in the red-sided barn. He leads the blind thoroughbred outside with a bucket of feed, t...
