How will you care for your aging parents?

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - When aging parents can no longer care for themselves, having a conversation with them about their future is never easy. Fortunately, there are people who have made it their life's mission to help you figure out what your loved ones can afford when it comes to their long-term care, and where they should spend their golden years. When my dad turned 92 years old in August 2016, his suddenly failing health was a rude punch of reality. Up until then, I had seen him as the strong, quick- witted police officer everyone in Trenton, New Jersey, knew. But suddenly it was up to my sister and me to be his caregivers. We did our best until he passed away in January, but the crash course we received in elder care was eye-opening. Senior living arrangements Once adult children get a handle on their parents’ finances, it’s time to figure out what type of care they can afford. My father soon needed more help than a home health aide could provide, and rushing to find the ri...

Designing a Safe Bathroom for Seniors

Gambar
Entry #1900, December 3, 2012 Life as a senior citizen is more complicated than many young people realize . Simple day-to-day tasks become much more difficult with age, especially for those who use walkers or wheelchairs to get around in their old age. This effect is most strongly pronounced in the bathroom, which becomes something like an obstacle course for those who don’t have the same physical capabilities they possessed in their younger years. When designing a safe bathroom for seniors, be sure to keep this in mind. What is convenient for you may be a difficult mess for the elderly. Ensure the bathroom is accessible for aging adults Image via: David Wilkes Builders Walk-in showers and bathtubs Walk-in showers and baths are some of the best utilities available for senior bathrooms. Stepping in and out of the bath can be dangerous even for those in their prime years. Losing your balance is very easy, and the slippery surfaces make it even easier to fall over and hurt oneself. First time with Princess; something was lacking. - Princess Review

We wanted to try Princess having heard so many wonderful thing about their ships and in particular their onboard dinging and overall service. So a 2 night 'quickie' onboard Golden Princess - our first trip without the kids was a perfect opportunity to give them a try! Now I will put a couple of caveats on my review, being: a) we know a 2 night cruise is not long enough to get a full feel for the ship AND b) there were a lot of cruisers like ourselves doing the 2 nighter and thus a different 'vibe' to a longer cruise was experienced - again not necessarily the same experienced on a 'full' cruise where you have a chance to settle in and truly relax! So I think the above may in fact explain that whilst overall we really enjoyed our 2. 5 days aboard Golden Princess we felt that something was lacking that left us without the 'WOW" factor that we were truly expecting (hoping!) to experience. The ship herself is lovely - built in More a true nauti...
