Gorgeous Spa Master Bathroom Remodel

Gambar
When some floor tiles outside our shower came loose, we knew we had a leaking problem in our master bathroom . We had to do something! Living in the Pacific Northwest, it gets quite cold in the winter months and our master bathroom was always the coldest room in our house. I longed for heated tile floors , so we decided to take this shower leak as an opportunity to re-do our master bath so it worked for us. Here's what our master bathroom looked like before we started: Vanity area before: We put tons of thought into our new bathroom design - I was thinking "glammy spa". We ensured we had every decision made on all fixtures, tile, etc. prior to demo. We had everything we would need for the new bathroom in-hand prior to the job starting to avoid any unnecessary delays in our project. We planned it to every last detail. How does that old saying go? "We make plans, and God laughs." Yeah, that applies here... in spades! The first contractor we hired said the full m...

Master Bath Update Plans!

Gambar
I’ve mentioned a few times along the way that one day I’d like to update my master bathroom .  Well, that day (and year) has finally arrived!  It was 4 years ago about this time that I started looking at houses and now I’ve been in my house for over 3 years, with lots of updates and renovations along the way.  My master bathroom did not get a complete overhaul, but I merely painted the vanity, got a new toilet, added some pretty touches and called it a day.  It’s been a useful little bathroom, but its little 70’s self could certainly could use an update, so I’ve decided to tackle that this spring. This update will not be done by my dad and I (I just can’t put him through a project of this scope), but I’m hiring the father and son team who built my front porch and added my windows for me last spring.  They do a really great job, are reasonable enough for labor, and I trust them.  So, they are going to help me gut my small 3 x 5′ bathroom and give it new life.  Right now, the bathroom ...

Today’s Bath Renovation, Part 2

Danny Lipford: This week is the second and final show on the renovation of Today’s Bath. Announcer: Today’s Homeowner with Danny Lipford , the voice of home improvement , with projects, tips and ideas to help you improve your home. Danny Lipford: We’re right in the middle of a two part renovation called Today ’s Bath, it involves the renovation and updating of two different bathrooms, one being a very small master bathroom that was in this area and then on the other side of the wall even a smaller bathroom that was kind of the guest bathroom and we’re making them a lot larger by encroaching into this area which was once the master bedroom . Now, by taking up this space we were able to create this very nice custom walk -in shower than a very long vanity, two different sinks, and this cozy little niche for the whirlpool tub. Also the existing guest bathroom ’s a lot larger, a lot more functional and we had enough space left over by encroaching into this bedroom to create a very nice...

Design May 31, 2017   Share To create a winning master bath with limited square footage , assess the space, identify the client’s functional, aesthetic and stylistic preferences, and focus on incorporating unique and spectacular design details . authors Ellen Cheever   All too often, designers across the country tell me that, when offered a master bathroom project , the clients’ dream of an adult oasis is limited by the existing bathroom space and their unrealistic budget. While this may be the reality we all face with our “post Great Recession” clientele, let me suggest you not spend your energy complaining…but be energized by the challenge presented to you. Several strategies can help you create an exciting solution for a master bath space that must be completed within the confines of the available square footage . And, while they may not all fit within the client’s budget, these strategies will at least help you justify a recommendation to increase the initial budget! While the...

Edmonds Master Suite Bath & Bedroom Remodel

Gambar
It all began with an aqua Terrazo tile as the inspiration for -our client's master bathroom transformation . A master suite built for an Edmonds Queen, with walk-in closet, master bathroom , and 2 vanity areas were included. The project also included updates to her powder room and laundry room- which was relocated to the lower level. This allowed us to reframe her master suite area and create a larger, more dramatic, and very functional master bath . Angled walls made space -planning and reframing a challenging puzzle to solve and we not only had to measure the interior, but the exterior angles as well since we were removing walls . Luckily, the large “wet room” concept met the client’s needs and overcame this obstacle. The new space features a stand-alone tub open showering area , as well as sink vanity, and seated makeup area . Additionally, storage needs were addressed with a wall of cabinetry installed adjacent to the new walk-in closet. A serene color palette and a var...
