Bathroom wall mounted mixer tap placement

We are at the plumbing set-out stage in a bathroom reno and would appreciate views on bathroom mixer tap placement. Its a dorf wall mounted mixer tap over a caroma cube 500 sink.

The plumber has centred the tap over the basin which skews the mixer plate to the right of the basin.

I wonder if it wouldn't look more balanced if the mixer plate was centered over the basin.

Is there a standard approach?
