A hi-tech en suite

Open plan

A sanctuary style is created in this open plan bedroom and bathroom (above). Designed by William Fox of Cymru Kitchens, the spaces are separated by strips of walnut flooring.

A large roll-top bath is positioned beneath a large window with private countryside views.

‘Rather than looking at it as two separate entities – a bathroom and a bedroom – I see it as somewhere that I can spend time relaxing.’ – Homeowner

 Sophisticated style

Bespoke elements including a walk-in chromatherapy shower and steam facility create a grown up design in this en suite bathroom.

Created by Ian Richards from Ukrenovations, the LED lighting built-in to the plinth highlights the Ovale bath by Stonecast.

‘It’s our piece of heaven away from the hustle and bustle of life.’ – Homeowner

Classic fittings

A washstand basin in white ceramic is paired with vintage-style taps to create a traditional look with the modern convenience of remote temperature control.

Designed by an architect from Flower Michelin, the traditional fittings were chosen to compliment the age of the property.

Mixing glazed and iridescent tiles adds interest.

Opulent look

An old kitchen has been transformed into an en suite bathroom in a luxury scheme.

The flooring was raised to hide the plumbing from the previous kitchen, while LED lights were fitted to illuminate the step up at night.

Cararra marble flooring from Topps Tiles and Grigio Argento wall tiles bring a decadent, hotel-like feel.

His and hers showers

A bespoke bathroom featuring walk-in his and hers showers has been designed by Marco Ali from Ripples.

The room has a symmetrical feel, where the floor tiles echo the recessed ceiling, and the two showers face each other and the end of the room.

‘We absolutely love our new en suite, especially the double showers.’ – Homeowner

Loft bathroom

Loft bathrooms have to tackle varying ceiling heights, but this example utilises the highest point of a new loft extension to provide enough head room for a large Metro shower enclosure from Livinghouse.

A generous Duravit Darling bath is placed below a rooflight to create an ambient focal point when lit with white LEDs, placed below the rim.

‘Who would have thought that raising the roof by such a small amount would give us a room of this size?’ – Homeowner

Luxury lighting

This bathroom cleverly contrasts dark shade and natural light, designed by Nic Burchett of Lewis Charles Bathrooms in Redhill.

Options allow the homeowners to switch between task lighting and ambient, intimate illumination.

Details like porcelain tiles, a metallic edge to the recessed storage niche and spotlights ensure the room does not feel dark.

Colourful contrast

Wall tiles from Porcelanosa behind the bath and on sloping eaves give this en suite character. The pattern contrasts with the bedroom of the property, which is decorated with neutral tones.

Despite the bathroom’s small size, space has been used cleverly. A loft dormer was extended to create shower space, while two sinks have been added with careful sourcing of a correctly sized MyPlan unit from Bathstore.

‘It’s just like having our own hotel suite.’ – Homeowner

Feature wall

Iridescent mosaic tiles make a feature wall behind a slipper bath in this colourful en suite. The bath, customised with painted purple sides, matches the sink, creating fun pops of colour in a sophisticated scheme.

A mirror above the sink, and recessed storage with lighting, creates a sense of space. Behind the mosaic-covered stud wall is a hidden shower.
