Tour 3 of Berlin’s Most Expensive Hotel Suites

Edgy art galleries, all-night techno raves, Michelin-starred restaurants, and five-star hotels—Berlin is full of contrasts. You can visit the Holocaust Memorial, see Checkpoint Charlie, drive around in a Soviet Trabi, visit the East Side Gallery, enjoy a tasting menu by one of Germany’s most famous chefs, and wind down in a luxurious hotel all in a day. Here, we take a look at the city's premier accommodations.

This storied hotel overlooking the Brandenburg Gate actually survived World War II only to be burned to the ground by Soviets partying a little too hard during the Cold War. Originally opened in 1907 by Lorenz Adlon, the hotel was rebuilt and remains Berlin’s most classic hotel to this day. Its 185-meter-square Royal Suite comprises a living room with a view of the Brandenburg Gate, dining room, study, master bedroom and bathroom, and features a signed photograph of Queen Elizabeth, who stayed here. A member of Design Hotels, this über-cool hotel near the Tiergarten and zoo features a glamorous, eclectic style that feels very of-the-moment. A rug by Diane von Furstenberg welcomes you in from the street, while the lobby, with its high ceiling and sculptural chandelier, has a sophisticated yet playful vibe. The 105-meter-square penthouse suite features a spacious living area separated from the bathroom by a double-sided fireplace. The bedroom has a king bed, walk-in closet, and powder room in addition to a master bathroom with a couple’s rain shower. Designer Dayna Lee incorporated unique touches like a desk made from a vintage trunk, plum-colored sofas, tufted headboards, and rotary phones.
