You may have noticed an ad in the sidebar of this website mentioning The Mom Summit which is coming up March 31st – April 7th. I hope you will take a minute to click on it and see all the great information that is available through this FREE online conference.

The aim of The Mom Summit is to give moms information that will make their lives easier and more enjoyable! I will be joining more than 30 contributors who will be teaching classes on topics such as parenting, cooking, organization, health and fitness, relationships, balancing work and home life, and more!

One of the other bloggers involved in The Mom Summit is one I’ve followed for quite awhile…Wellness Mama. As a matter of fact when I saw that she was participating, it reminded me of a recent post I read on her blog about the benefits of magnesium salt baths which in turn inspired MY post today!

I’ve also done blog posts about the importance of magnesium in our overall health and well-being, and about the benefits of epsom salt baths in particular. But it was on Katie’s blog that I first read about MAGNESIUM FLAKES. It turns out magnesium flakes are a better source of magnesium because they dissolve faster and are more easily absorbed, making them perfect for therapeutic salt baths.

I try to take at least one therapeutic salt bath a week in an attempt to control my headaches. Studies have shown that up to 50 percent of headache sufferers can be magnesium deficient. As a matter of fact, magnesium deficiency has been linked to a myriad of physiological disorders.

So when I heard about the magnesium flakes, I decided I needed to give them a try. Since it was the end of a long and stressful day (I’d had a photo shoot earlier and THAT stresses me out more than just about anything! lol) I decided to make my magnesium soak into a relaxation, sleep-inducing soak as well!

I call it my……

SWEET DREAMS SOAK

Here’s what you’ll need:

Dissolve magnesium flakes in full tub bath or foot bath, add essential oil, and soak for 20 – 30 minutes. Temperature of the water should be warm, but not too hot. Very hot bath water causes the skin to eliminate rather than absorb. Following the bath, rinse skin with cool running water, then pat skin dry with a towel.

“Dream” blend is sold by Spark Naturals and is a STAPLE in my EO arsenal, but you can make your own DIY version of it with the following recipe:

DIY Dream-y Blend

20 drops cinnamon bark
40 drops ginger
40 drops peppermint
40 drops lemon
40 drops grapefruit

This will almost fill a 15 ml bottle.

Why do these essential oils work for sleep? They help balance blood sugar and calm adrenals, often the culprit for keeping us awake at night.

After just 20 minutes in the tub I felt all the stress of the day melting away and when I slipped into bed immediately after, I slept like a baby!

If you have trouble sleeping, or if you just need a little extra relaxation at the end of a stressful day, I HIGHLY recommend trying my Sweet Dreams Soak!

Use coupon code “jillee” to take 10% off any Spark Naturals essential oils order.
