Five Minute DIY: How to replace a shower hose
Fitting a new shower hose might seem like a bit of a tedious and dirty task, but it's actually a lot easier than you might think.
There’s nothing worse than standing in a shower that’s barely spluttering water. You might have a limescale build up, or you may just have a leaky hose. Either way, it’s time to change your old hose for a new one. Here’s how to switch them over in just five minutes.
What you’ll need:
Shower hose
Old rag
Pliers
What to do:
Step 1: Pick the right hose
Choosing the right parts for the job can often be a chore in itself. However, when the plumbers of the world got together to discuss shower hoses they decided to make them all a universal size. So you don’t have to worry about measurements. Instead, you only have to worry about the colour. Handy, right?
Step 2: Precautions to take before removing the hose

Before you remove the old hose from the shower, make sure the whole bath is completely dry. You’ll also want to make sure the shower head is dry too, or else things will get messy. Believe us...
Step 3: Remove the old shower hose
Once everything is nice and dry you can begin on removing the old shower hose from the shower head and the tap. If you have the strength you can just remove the hose with your hands, however, don’t be ashamed if you have to use the pliers. Just be careful when removing the shower head, as you may want to reuse this once the job is done.
Step 4: Connect the new hose
The last step is the easiest as all you have to do is reconnect the new hose to the shower head and the tap. Just be careful not to tighten the hose up too tight as you could break the washers, putting you back at square one. Once you have this done you can simply relax in a nice hot shower.
