UK bathroom in France
I have done 6 kitchens and 6 bathrooms both here and in the UK using usually the cheapest bricolage items often arrivages and have had no real problems to speak of, have had to replace so far just one kitchen mixer tap that cost €8, its replacement was €12.
I am currently doing the 7th, its my 3rd WC suspendu from Leroy Merlin, their cheapest at €99, you wont get anywhere near that in the UK, they dont have them on the rayons because they want you to spend up to €350 on the premium ones however the reservoir and mecanism is the same on mine as the more expensive ones, the faceplate and toilet seat are not as flash as the others but still very good quality, they certainly dont look cheap, the shape of the cuvette is a matter of personal taste, i prefer the basic one, the only thing the sales guy could put forward for the other ones was that the bâti required wall fixings, I would never trust a floor mounted one anyway, the depth isnt enough for the applied moment and at best it would deflect, anything but a 100% fixing into a concrete substrate would rip out, if someone is not capable of doing 2 wall fixings then they should not be installing sanitary ware.
The same can be said for adapting from 100 to 110 (all mine are 100) or a different BSP thread size or 15mm compression joint, anyone with any competence will soon overcome tiny obstacles like that, all the fittings/materials needed are available from the smallest of brico-sheds.
